Alocasia x amazonica is a hybrid whose parents are unknown. This plant has leathery, wavy-edged, arrowhead-shaped leaves that love humidity. Commonly known as the African Mask Plant, Alocasia doesn’t come from Africa at all. It gets its name from its resemblance to the hand-carved ceremonial masks found there.

 


This variety does well in indirect sunlight and prefers water when the top two inches of soil become dry. Mist leaves regularly and keep temperatures above or around 75 F. Your African Mask plant likes a tight fit in its pot, so don't repot too often. Highly toxic to humans and pets.
