Calathea makoyana, or the Peacock plant is native to Brazil and has the most unique foliage. Its patterns of dark green, light green, and purple make this a must have plant for any collection. It is pet-friendly as well!

Place this plant in low to moderate light conditions. Peacock plant care includes keeping the soil consistently moist. Interestingly enough, the foliage of this plant can be damaged by fluoride in water. You can collect rainwater for watering or use distilled water without fluoride. Calatheas also love humidity!
